The founder and CEO of Compose Your Life Consulting, Valerie launched her initial long-term career as a professional violinist after graduating from the University of Toronto in Music Performance. A skilled communicator who loves teaching, she is also a certified ESL teacher and has taught both English and French as a second language. Employment at the Montreal Neurological Institute as a Research Coordinator in adolescent brain development sparked her interest in brain plasticity and transformation, while her experience co-leading a Mindfulness Meditation group brought her another understanding of training the mind.
Valerie’s deep curiosity led her to pursue training and certification in the Art and Science of Coaching through Erickson College International (Vancouver, 2008), and she is certified with the International Coaching Federation as a PCC (Professional Certified Coach). Her passion for learning has encompassed studies in Clinical Training in Mind/Body Medicine at the Harvard Medical School (2009); certification as an NLP Practitioner (2012); and certification in Positive Psychology with Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar (2017) through the Kripalu Centre/Wholebeing Institute (Massassachusetts).
Valerie embodies the creative spirit with her love of diversity and new projects. In addition to her experience living and working on 3 continents (North America, Africa and Europe), she continues to be an avid world traveler. Her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to healthy living led her to found and manage Ô JUS, a juice and smoothie bar (2010-2012). To honour her love of team work, Valerie co-founded The Coach Approach with Anna Stowers in 2009. In addition to ebooks and other resources, they offer successful workshops internationally (in Germany, Canada and Mexico) based on the Art and Science of coaching: http://www.the-coach-approach.com. She also works as a coach and consultant for McGill University, PapillonMDC and Grand Heron International.
Valerie currently divides her time between Vancouver Island, British Columbia and the Costa Alegre in Mexico, continuing to embrace the process of composing a life. How might she support you in this journey?
